8HP AWD / xDrive / 4WD / Transfer Case Support

Currently, 8HP AWD, xDrive (x-Drive), 4WD, and transfercase (transfer case) control are not supported. MaxxECU does not control the 8HP transfercase or front axle engagement used in 8HP AWD systems such as BMW xDrive or Dodge AWD platforms.

If the 8HP TCU is supported and flashed, the RWD (rear-wheel-drive) portion of the 8HP transmission will function normally. However, the AWD / front axle / transfercase will not operate and must be controlled separately using external systems.

That said, the transfer case actuator is typically an electric motor controlling clutch pressure, and it can be controlled separately using generic outputs, such as PWM outputs or external control modules. MaxxECU can therefore drive the transfer case motor at a basic level, but no dedicated transfer case logic, AWD strategy, or xDrive control function is provided.

The transfercase motor could optionally be controlled by our PWM module.

Summary:

If your supported 8HP TCU originates from a BMW xDrive or other AWD vehicle (including Dodge AWD platforms), only the rear wheels will be driven with MaxxECU 8HP control
